Eligible Enrollments: Full-time, Part-time

Degrees/Programs: Associates degree (2-year), Bachelor’s degree (4-year), Graduate degree, Professional development, Vocational/trade certification

Student Types: Current graduate students, Current undergrads, Nontraditional/returning students

Additionally, students applying for this scholarship must:

  • Be a resident of Allegan, Barry, Calhoun, Kalamazoo, St. Joseph or Van Buren County.
  • Be a woman who is under-employed or unemployed.
  • Have taken a break from school for at least three years after high school.
  • Be able to demonstrate how post-high school education will assist in reaching goals of increased financial independence.
  • KZCF scholarships may be applied to any items under your school’s cost of attendance (COA). Each school has a different COA that may include items such as tuition, fees, housing, transportation, food, health insurance, etc. You can find your school’s COA online or by asking your financial aid office.

     Scholarship payments are sent directly to your institution. We will send one check for the full academic year and ask them to split it evenly between fall and spring semesters. If you’d like it to be applied/split differently, please just let us know.

    This is a multiyear scholarship, meaning that it is eligible to repeat annually up to the degree/program completion.

    This education grant was established by a coalition of four member organizations: Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, the YWCA of Kalamazoo and the former Kalamazoo Network.

    Apply Online

    Starting March 15, students can apply online for this grant. Submissions are due by May 15.

    Wait for Notification

    Applicants may be contacted for missing information, otherwise from June-August, KZCF Scholarships staff will reach out to selected scholarship recipients as committees make final award decisions.

    Payment Sent — Hit the Books!

    The successful candidate will be notified in early summer and receive the grant upon the return of a letter of acceptance for their award.
